These versatile bodysuits come in all shapes and sizes, including ones on Amazon, with built-in bras and beyond.
It may evoke visions of '80s aerobic dancers, but bodysuits have made a major comeback. And rather than leg warmers and opaque tights, the one-piece top can be paired with anything from casual jeans to high-waisted work trousers. Bodysuits marry a lingerie concept with compression but not so much that it feels like shapewear. When in doubt, it's a seamless base layer for a work ensemble or a chic, dressy top for a night out. Not to mention, for those who struggle to keep their shirts tucked in, the bodysuit has emerged as the perfect solution.
From options with a built-in bra on Amazon to those plus size options to dressy ones for work, we have got you covered with these highly recommended picks, so that when in doubt, you can always reach for them in your wardrobe.

Build your capsule wardrobe with the Aritzia bodysuit that our pros (and the entirety of social media) agree takes the cake as the best bodysuit. Lightly compressive and smoothing, it earns major praise from the Textiles Lab's Apparel Reviews Analyst Amanda Constantine for emphasizing her natural shape. The bodysuit comes in 32 (!) colors that range from pretty pastels to solid neutrals. It even has you covered with long- and short-sleeves, sleeveless and on ... This one features an ingenious snap-and-loop at the shoulder to tuck bra straps out of sight while its thong cut keeps panty lines hidden.
Offering a wide range of styles and sizes (including tall or petite) at favorable prices, Old Navy's bodysuits impress our Textiles pros with their great quality. Its styles lean toward casual staples that work well as bases for outfits or for lounging around. "As a taller person, I always find Old Navy brand tall clothes to fit nicely," Constantine says. "It's great to have something that's long enough without having to size up!" For this particular style, a few online shoppers wrote that the material was thin.
Meet your new go-to piece, the MangoPop Scoop Neck bodysuit. With more than 1,500 five-star ratings on Amazon, this timeless bodysuit is a must-have for any wardrobe. Online shoppers praise its comfy, stretchy fit and helpful two-snap design that makes it easy to take on and off. Made from buttery soft fabric in a range of colors, choose from classic black, tan or playful green tie-dye to elevate your style effortlessly.
Seamless and sculpting, this SKIMS Fit Everybody Bodysuit features a sleek snap gusset design and a high thong cut so that its lines remain virtually invisible under clothing. Our pros appreciate that it comes in tons of nude shades, neutral colors and rotating limited edition fashion colors for your picking. Sizes stretch from XXS to 4X. It features a liner, but an online shopper noted lines from silicone pasties or bras layered underneath are visible.
You could practically live in this bodysuit — at least, it seems like Senior Textiles Product Analyst Emma Seymour does. "I love the low scoop back that's chic and flattering," she says. "I've washed mine dozens of times, and it's held up great." The fabric is moisture-wicking and smoothing, ideal for summer wear. Cleverly coupled with a built-in bra and removable cups, the bodysuit offers support up top. While it works well as a top, Seymour says it's more designed as an undergarment, given its more prominent cups.
Express is proof that a bodysuit can look polished and take your usual work attire up a notch. With looks that range from wrap, puff sleeve, polo, faux leather and traditional blouse styles, Express bodysuits adopt a formal aesthetic on top that transitions into a more comfortable stretch material below. "The styles stay put without needing to readjust or tuck in like a standard blouse," says Constantine. "Their clothes are they’re always a great value for the quality."
Consider this Parade bodysuit your unofficial warm weather uniform. It got one GH staffer through an entire summer with frequent wear. Through it all, it washed well. What's more, the brand claims it's made from sustainable materials and uses 95% less water than traditional cotton. "It's extremely comfortable, especially being that it is a thong! No need to wear underwear with it," they said. It also offers great bust support. However, lighter colors may be sheerer.
Girlfriend Collective's bodysuits are a hit with our testers, and it's no surprise they sell out quickly. With brief and thong styles, they offer customizable coverage. This bodysuit couples an impressive XXS and 6XL size range with a built-in bra, which our testers found supportive across bust sizes though it may be visible under lighter colors. Made from recycled materials and spandex, it feels "soft, smooth and stretchy," according to our pros. However, the tag's placement at the front made it tricky to put on at first.
Shaping is what Spanx does best, and this smoothing bodysuit only props up its reputation. Designed to lightly sculpt and shape, our pros rate the brand's bodysuit materials for feeling lightweight and smooth. Constantine notes it's lined gusset, which means you can comfortably wear it without underwear. And its opaque ribbed fabric lets you go sans bra, too.
If you weren't a bodysuit fan before, this Abercrombie one is sure to convert you into a believer. That's exactly the case for GH Beauty Assistant Catharine Malzahn who found others uncomfortable until trying an Abercrombie bodysuit. "I could wear these every day," she says of the long-sleeved top. "They're soft, smooth and match with anything, and the styles are timeless and chic." Just note that the sizing runs a little big, so size down, and make sure to wash on delicate as Malzahn's have begun to pill.
Chances are your favorite influencer owns this Zara bodysuit. The top went viral after Rosie Huntington-Whiteley styled it nine different ways, with proof of its range stamped across the model's Instagram. As seen from her photos, the halter neck style dresses up and down with a slip skirt to a classic pair of denim to linen trousers. It comes in staple black or white, plus soft blue and vibrant fuschia.
Lauded by loungewear enthusiasts as "super soft," this SKIMS bodysuit incorporates a breathable stretch jersey that claims to comfortably hug your curves (but note that it may be on the sheer side). The fitted crewneck bodysuit design gives the look of a tucked-in T-shirt, an ideal pick for everyday wear. Satisfied shoppers appreciated that it didn't dig into skin, but many ordered a size up for it to fit correctly.
Like a second skin, Commando bodysuits, namely its butter collection, stand out for feeling incredibly soft. It uses innovative raw-cut edges to prevent chafing. In our Lab tests, Commando received high acclaim for its basics like loungewear and bralettes. This long-sleeve bodysuit offers ample stretch so you can layer as needed without feeling restricted. The only caveat: Commando bodysuits like this one ring up quite high.
A favorite of one GH staffer, this bodysuit makes a bold statement with its color blocked options. "I love that its zipper allows for an adjustable look," she says, adding that the shape of the scoop neck and its high-cut leg holes are super flattering. Heads up that this bodysuit is pull-on, so there are no snaps for bathroom runs, and it tends to run large, so size down when ordering.
✔️ Sizing: When it comes to choosing a size, stick with your standard size for tops, advises Constantine. If you’re tall or have a longer torso, a bodysuit with "long" or "tall" sizing is ideal for a better fit. Otherwise, she recommends sizing up if no tall option is available. "Brands tend to add about an inch of fabric both in width and length between sizes, so a larger size will likely have a little more room in the torso for a more comfortable feel," she adds.
✔️ Closure: Some bodysuits are pull-on, which means you step into them as you would a one-piece bathing suit. They’re simple to put on but a little inconvenient to take off, especially when you need to use the restroom, Constantine explains. Other styles have a snap bottom that can be undone with ease, and snap bottom styles can be made adjustable with multiple rows of snaps available to shorten or lengthen the fit.
✔️ Bottom coverage: You'll typically find bodysuits with brief and thong cuts, or sometimes, ones that fall somewhere between. Opt for a thong-style bottom to eliminate underwear lines under your clothes. If you would feel more comfortable in fuller coverage, choose the brief-style bottom.
That's totally up to you! Plenty of people prefer to wear underwear underneath, but it's not always necessary, notes Constantine. "If you would like to skip out on underwear, it's best to look for a bodysuit with a cotton-lined gusset for breathability and comfort, similar to what you would find in a pair of underwear," she says. Keep in mind: Bodysuits without a lined gusset may feel sweaty or scratchy, and those with a snap bottom could dig into sensitive areas.
Bodysuits are simple! "They’re streamlined and stay in place, unlike a top that's tucked into your bottoms, which can create bulk around your waistline and hips and needs to be adjusted regularly throughout the day," explains Constantine. Depending on the material or style, a bodysuit can serve as a perfect layering piece or can provide lift and shaping, too.
To put together this list of the best bodysuits, writer Jacqueline Saguin began by tapping two of our Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab pros — Reviews Analyst Amanda Constantine and Product Analyst Grace Wu — for their expert shopping advice and top picks. Jacqueline also researched and and vetted the most popular bodysuits online, looking at customer reviews, size range and overall value, plus sourced additional recommendations from GH editors who gave her the lowdown on the styles they wear year-round.
