Charli D'Amelio Shares Stance on "Pretty Privilege" Via Baby Tee
Charli D’Amelio is taking a stance on the pretty privilege discourse in graphic baby tee form.
The TikTok superstar recently posted a picture to her Instagram story wearing a white baby tee with the words "I benefit from pretty privilege" across the chest inside the center of a pink heart. Graphic baby tees, in tow of our Y2K renaissance, have become a popular style choice among Gen Z. Tiny tops and big pants are currently trending, and D’Amelio's look is right on target. She paired her crop top tee with baggy cargo pants and mini Ugg boots (which are also Gen Z favorites).
This isn't the first time a celebrity has worn a cropped white tee with an amusing and slightly self-aware saying across the front. Hailey Bieber is front of mind when we think back to her "impromptu" photoshoot in a Los Angeles parking garage wearing a "nepo baby" t-shirt. The internet was set ablaze from this paparazzi shot, mostly because of Bieber's admittance to being a child of nepotism — something we're not entirely used to seeing celebrities own up to. We've entered the era of fashion statements by way of baby tees and D'Amelio is a part of the latest addition.
Between winning Dancing With The Stars and navigating a huge social media following, the 19-year-old star is very busy. But that hasn't stopped Charli and her family from launching another joint endeavor. Sisters Charli and Dixie have already gotten started in the fashion business with their clothing brand Social Tourist at Hollister.
Now, the whole family is taking on the footwear industry. A few weeks ago they launched D'Amelio Footwear, a new line of women's footwear. The footwear page has already garnered almost 33 thousand followers on Instagram. The footwear collection though is set to drop in June and they had an open early access on May 18, due to popular demand. The family will continue to release new shoe styles in the following months while also beginning their segway into skin care. According to Fortune, the family also hopes to expand the D’Amelio Brands to include stick-on acne patches and even a food product down the line.
Who knows what else is next for the D'Amelio family? Perhaps they'll venture into the graphic tee industry too.
