Jumbo Shrimp tops Bulls 3

Durham Bulls third baseman Jonathan Aranda recorded an RBI, however Jumbo Shrimp right fielder Peyton Burdick homered and LHP Trevor Rogers threw five scoreless innings as part of his Major League Rehab assignment in Jacksonville's 3-1 win over Durham on Sunday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Jacksonville 2B Xavier Jones scored twice and Burdick homered to put the Jumbo Shrimp up 3-0 in the sixth inning. Durham answered in the same frame when Aranda knocked an RBI single.

Jacksonville lefty Trevor Rogers (5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 5 SO) earned the victory, while Durham starter Jacob Lopez (4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO) suffered the defeat.

Following a Monday off day, the Bulls are scheduled to start a six-game road series versus the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, on Tuesday, June 6. First pitch of the series opener is set for 8:05pm with starting pitchers not yet announced.

Durham returns home to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, June 13 to begin a six-game homestand hosting the Charlotte Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. First pitch of that contest is slated for 6:35pm.
