The Heaviest Tanks In War Thunder
Single vehicles that weigh more than your average house.
Grinding metal, a roaring, smoke-spewing engine, and steadily spinning treads; there's nothing quite like the slow, intimidating crawl of a heavy tank in War Thunder. Given their title, it's pretty obvious that tanks classified as "heavy" are, well, pretty darn heavy.

But, if you think about it, It isn't very surprising that the weight starts to add up when you build a tank around a massive gun, thick armor plating, and a hull full of ammunition. If you've ever wondered just how heavy these tanks can get, though, you're in luck: here are the heaviest tanks in War Thunder.
A member of the AMX-50 line of French tanks, the Surblindé is a rank five heavy tank with armor thicknesses ranging from 5 to 300 millimeters. Combined with a 120-millimeter main gun and up to 50 shells weighing anywhere from 22.84 to 23.1 kilograms, this heavy tank tops out at 70 tons.
Don't let the weight fool you, though; equipped with a 1,908 horsepower engine, the Surblindé is capable of reaching a top speed of 55 kilometers per hour. Of course, while terrain type affects the top speed and acceleration of the tank, it's still an impressive feat of engineering.
An interesting modification of the FCM 2C, the 2C Bis is a rank one premium French heavy tank with armor thicknesses ranging from 22 to 45 millimeters. If you're wondering how a tank with such a lackluster amount of armor could be classified as a heavy tank, turn your attention toward the main armament: a 155-millimeter howitzer.
Capable of holding up to 24 shells weighing a whopping 43.2 kilograms each, the combination of such a large main gun and ammunition makes the 2C Bis top out at 70 tons. In terms of speed, this tank is about as maneuverable as a brick, with its top speed of 16 kilometers per hour.
A predecessor of the 2C Bis, the Char FCM 2C is a rank two French heavy tank with armor thicknesses ranging from 22 to 45 millimeters. While the main armament of this tank, a 75-millimeter cannon, is a bit disappointing, this tank makes up for it with a massive 12-man crew.

On top of that, the 2C can hold up to 128 shells weighing anywhere between 5.3 to 7.2 kilograms depending on the ammo type. Somehow, this antiquated tank reaches a total weight of 70 tons. Equipped with a weak engine of only 954 horsepower, the 2C is quite slow.
Make way for the German tanks because things only get heavier from here. A Variant of the Tiger II, the Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B (H) mit Simmering Sla.16 has respectable armor thicknesses, ranging from 80 to 185 millimeters.
Combined with a reasonable 88-millimeter cannon, and an ammo rack that can hold up to 70 shells ranging from 7.3 to 10.16 kilograms, this tank tops out at, yet again, 70 tons. Maybe this is the ideal weight for most heavy tanks? Oh, and thanks to a 1,431 horsepower engine, this tank can reach speeds up to 45 kilometers per hour.
Are you ready to see a number greater than 70 tons? Another Tiger II variant, the Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B mit 10.5cm KwK L/68 is a rank five heavy tank with armor thicknesses ranging from 80 to 185 millimeters. It is equipped with an impressive 105-millimeter cannon and an ammo rack that holds up to 54 shells that can weigh anywhere from 10.3 to 15.6 kilograms.
When you add everything together, this tank tops out at 72.3 tons. Thanks to its 1,717 horsepower engine, this tank can reach a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour and a maximum reverse speed of 12 km/h.
The mighty Pz.Kpfw. E-100, a rank five heavy tank that has impressive armor, ranging anywhere between 120 and 232 millimeters thick. It's armed with a 128-millimeter cannon and can hold up to 42 shells weighing 9.85 to 26.35 kilograms.

The incredible armor thickness combined with such a large cannon and its respective shells makes the E-100 achieve a total weight of 140.5 tons. Despite the 1,717 horsepower engine, that much weight only allows this tank to reach a top speed of 32 kilometers per hour.
The final boss of heavy tanks in War Thunder is none other than the Pz.Kpfw. VIII Maus, an infamous rank five heavy tank with armor 50 to 300 millimeters thick. It's armed with a 128 mm cannon and an ammo rack that can hold up to 68 shells weighing anything between 9.85 and 28.3 kilograms.
Since the tank weighs an unfathomable 188 tons, the monstrous 2,290 horsepower engine is still only able to get the Maus up to a top speed of 22 kilometers per hour. If anything, it's a miracle this tank was able to achieve speeds greater than 10 kilometers per hour.
