TikToker demands Amazon explain this bizarre polka
Tue, May 30, 2023 at 4:40:50 PM EDT
Many people have experienced receiving an Amazon product that was far different than advertised, but a TikTok post by Julia Comerford (@heyguysitsjulia) — who is an Amazon influencer herself — shows just how off-base Amazon listings can be.
She stumbled upon a listing for a light blue polka-dot dress and the ensuing saga is nothing short of amazing.
#greenscreen HOW is this allowed??
The video shows Comerford displaying an actual Amazon Fashion ad that depicts a blue and white polka-dot dress for sale — but the dress is very clearly just a poorly rendered graphic.
"What would come in the mail if you order this?!" Comerford said, adding an "AMAZON PLS EXPLAIN?!" for good measure to her video. "It was literally like drawn in Snapchat."
The polka-dot dress was dubbed "The Berenstain Bears Mom Dress" due to its resemblance to the dress worn by Mama Bear in the children's book and TV series, and the video quickly blew up.
The entire comment section was immediately invested in this Amazon Fashion faux pas and begged Comerford to order the dress and report back on what arrived. So that's exactly what she did.

To add more confusion to the whole saga, apparently, Amazon Fashion ran out of the beloved light blue version of the dress — too popular, perhaps? — but quickly contacted Comerford to choose a different color.
She chose aqua blue instead. "It's an iconic historical dress," Comerford explained in her comments. As she tracked the delivery, her many followers waited anxiously for the big unboxing reveal.
The result, fortunately, was worth the wait.

Somehow, the dress turned out to be exactly like the ad and incredibly similar to the Berenstain Bears mom dress. Comerford's spot-on singing of the Berenstain Bears’ theme song while wearing the dress and dead-panning to the camera just put the whole performance over the top.
"Oh my gosh…it's so bad yet….so good????" commented @hey.courtney.
"It's the way none of the dots are in any sort of pattern yet but match the ad" laughed @meggiehuggess.
"It's awful I love it. Let's crowdfund to get you a mama bear bonnet," said @nurse199009.
Many commenters thanked Comerford for her service in ordering the dress. And those interested can order both blue and green versions of the dress directly from Comerford's Amazon storefront or just browse the reviews for some 5-star entertainment.
Comerford ended her video by dressing the outfit up in "Mama Bear out on the town" vibes, with white heels, a purse and hoops. The confused look on her face spoke of the internal battle of realizing she looks like Mama Berenstain Bear but also kind of … loving it?
"Like what??" Comerford exclaimed.
She clearly wasn't the only one feeling the Mama Bear Look. "Why is it eating tho?" asked @lorena.
"Mama bear slay," Comerford agreed.
