Marvin Harrison Jr. tops 247Sports “most explosive” player list

Sep 08, 2023

There is no doubt that Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the most talented football players in the country. With expectations sky-high after a breakout sophomore season, the Ohio State wide receiver just might be the best player in all of college football. Many think Harrison will be the Heisman winner this year, including former Buckeye coach, Urban Meyer.

Now Harrison has been put on a different list. Albeit total opinion, Carter Bahns of 247Sports put together his top 10 most explosive players in college football. Topping the list? You guessed it… No. 18 in Scarlet and Gray.

Bahns had this to say about what an explosive player means to him.

Speedy and elusive playmakers allow coaches to unlock elements of their scheme typically reserved for only the most capable players. On the flip side, opposing coaches have to design game plans specifically to slow down those electric weapons.

Three other Big Ten players were found to have what it takes to make the "explosive" cut. At No. 6 was Nick Singleton of Penn State, at No. 7, Donovan Edwards of Michigan, and at No. 8 was Cooper DeJean of Iowa. You can read what Bahns had to say about each of his top ten in the 247Sports article.

Curiously left off the list are a few players that would seem to epitomize the word "explosive." Not found in the top 10 were last year's Heisman winner Caleb Williams of USC or Blake Corum of Michigan who finished seventh in Heisman voting.

Maybe Bahns knows something that we don't know or maybe it's all just a matter of opinion. However, I think all of Buckeye Nation would agree that he got No. 1 correct, as would many across the country.
